The Adam Benjamin Transportation Center, is the downtown transfer point between the South Shore Railroad, local bus service Greyhound bus service and local taxi service. The building includes administrative offices for the Gary Public Transportation Corporation and other City of Gary offices, shops, restaurant, bus and rail ticket sales offices. Design of the building was in collaboration with Harry Weese and Associates.
The Adam Benjamin Center is a reinforced concrete structure, three levels, with a total area of 42,000 square feet.
The building received the Indiana Society of Architects top design honor and the Indiana Society of Professional Engineering Society’s best design award.
